More local CX racing

Ryan, Charissa and Dave are hooked...I think they have convinced more Team Velo Wrench racers to join them on Super Bowl Sunday to race as well. Rockville CA.  Go Team VW.

2013 Call Aggie Crit - Sacramento, CA

Cal Aggie Crit

Richard’s report was very short and to the point:

“Did the Cal Aggie Crit last minute, and it race went well. Top 25 finish, and I did what I wanted…stayed up front, took some pulls and stayed up right.”

2013 Solano CX - Fairfield CA

New race series put on at Solano Community College, put on by Rockville Bike.

A local home grown CX race:  Dave’s race!

“Turns out that helping out setting up and preparing the course didn't exactly help. First CCX or, race of this type ever it was one tough cookie. I crashed not out but if common sense had been the order I would of quit then and there. Broken helmet, face dinged a bit, neck and shoulders really in the hurt locker. That said I did not finish last and lapped two riders. For those who don't me I don't ride MTB well and when I do it normally means a short trip to the ground; hard. Ok enough of that, the course was a mile long with three fairly long straights two asphalt and one dirt grass and bumps. One twisty turny section in amongst a stand of eucalyptus trees and one humgous jump down hill with a dismount to climb a dirt cliff. I turned each pre-crash lap at 4:00 min. Very low turn out of only 15 people couple from Davis and two from Marin. In my judgment while this is a low key event without much advertisement it has potential and all told a good albeit painful experience it's do over next week and hopefully Cal-Aggie as well. Thanks Vinnie and and Brandy for the opportunity.”

2013 TBF MTB Kickoff - Folsom CA

2013 TBF MTB Kickoff

“Hi ya'll! Amy here. I took third in my “old lady”…I mean experienced riders
division today at the TBF kickoff. Took off out of the gates hot (finished luke
warm)!!
I rallied between first and third the whole time. Ya know, had em on all
the technicals and descents…they had me on all the climbs :) The last climb they
dusted me…Two great ladies & awesome sportsmanship! Good motivation to find my
legs this season :)  Great job Ryan, Charissa, and Leslie. Nice seeing everyone :)
Ride or die...”   -Amy Rondoni, 3rd place Cat 3 women 35+

“Hey!
Great to be on the mountain bike! I love riding.
The race was a bit muddy, a bit chilly. I loved it when I saw Leslie at the
end: she was covered in mud and she exclaimed, "That was fun!"
The race was tough and reminded me of two things: I love riding mountain
bikes and I need to do more of it.
See you at the next one!”
-Charissa Odom, 5th place Cat 2 women 19-29

“Great race started with a group of about 15 following the high school rabbits.
Out of the shoot I was hot, ended up 3rd in the hole shot. After passing about
20 high schoolers and splashing through the mud, I was passed 1/2 mile from the
end. With the last of my reserve, quads cramping, i pulled ahead of him to
finish 0:02 seconds in front of him taking 1st in my age group and 3rd overall
for Cat 2. Hard race but a hella lot of fun with everyone else there.”
-Ryan Odom, 1st place Cat 2 men 30-39

“Hey everyone! The race yesterday was super fun!  I decided to race Cat 1 as the race was not sanctioned...it was tough, but fun chasing after the other women in my field...I ended up in 4th out 6...luckily its early in the season giving me some time to gain more fitness to eventually keep with these gals and hopefully do well in sport at the sanctioned races (mainly Sea Otter).  I felt pretty off with my handling skills...that could be because I forgot to unlock my fork and ended up racing all, but about a mile with my fork locked out...rookie move! It was fun to see the other Team Velo Wrench riders out there especially on course...Ryan flew by me like I was standing still!  Great job by everyone! “ – Leslie Creed, Cat 1 women 35+
